Top 5 tablets in the market

Lightweight and highly portable, tablet computers are made to be carried wherever you go. They're multifunctional, serving as Web browser, e-book reader, digital picture viewer, movie viewer, and music player. All we tested have a webcam, and most have a 7- to 10-inch screen and weigh from just under a pound to about 1.5 pound

Here's a collection of the highest-rated tablets from CNET editors.

Apple iPad 2 (16GB, Wi-Fi, black)

The iPad 2 refines an already excellent product. Its easy-to-use interface, vast app catalog, and marathon battery life bolster Apple's claim to being the king of tablets.

Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime (32GB, gray)

The Asus Transformer Prime is the best full-featured Android tablet yet, with a sexy design, thoughtful features, and an impressive camera.

Sony Tablet S (32GB)

Sony took its time with the Tablet S, and it shows. The industrial design is smart, and the software refinements are both practical and restrained.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (16GB)

Sleek, sexy, and light, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 gets as close to the iPad 2 as any Android tablet before it.

Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

With more storage and a growing app store, the Nook Tablet is a worthy--albeit slightly more expensive--competitor to the Kindle Fire.

Huge Donation to GeoHot from Microsoft

Recently, George Hotz asked for donations to cover his legal fee. Well, it’s a well known fact that he has indeed racked up enough money to pay his lawyers from donations; however, Microsoft may have played a huge part in GeoHot getting the fees he needed to defend himself against Sony in court.

The information comes from a source close to the matter who must remain anonymous that in an attempt to help George win his case, and thus making it legal to hack the PlayStation 3, the company anonymously donated a large lump of cash so he could cover his court fees; remember: only 2 days had passed after Hotz requested the money and then received all of the money.

Of course, we’ve already seen Microsoft openly inviting George to jailbreak the Windows Phone 7 so the reported shrewd move from Microsoft seen above may indeed be true.

Hold the Phone! Game Developers See iPhone Potential

The Game Developers Conference got an eye-opener as ngmoco CEO Neil Young outlined the gaming potential for Apple, Inc.'s iPhone. Young said Nintendo's handheld DS outstripped Sony's PlayStation Portable because it had more functionality. Apple's iPhone, Young said, has so many features that it's growing "way faster than the DS."

Tuesday's session of the Game Developers Conference at the Moscone Center in San Francisco opened with a provocative topic: Why the iPhone Has Changed Everything. For an industry that has long regarded Apple as an afterthought when it comes to serious gaming, it was an eye-opening presentation.

The talk was delivered by Neil Young, founder and CEO of ngmoco, one of the leading developers of games for the iPhone and the iPod touch. Among the company's titles are the popular Word Fu, Rolando, Topple, Dropship, and Dr. Awesome, Microsurgeon M.D.

Everyone wants the web sitting right in their pocket nowadays, whether its from mobile phone or a handheld computer, you just have to have it. Sony's new answer to real quality pocket surfing is their new handheld computer.

Mylo 2 is an extremely classy and very sexy device which boasts a 3.5in touch-screen which flips up to reveal a QWERTY keyboard, wi-fi, a 1.3mp camera, Skype, a backlit keyboard, 1GB of storage, email and instant messaging. Now that is a real quality piece of tech and you'd be mad to disagree. It also supports iPhone-style widgets, such as a very sharp Facebook monitoring app. Of course, it'll play music and movies from memory cards.
